Bangladesh lost to Vietnam

Sports Reports :

The same picture was seen from start to finish. Bangladesh could not stand up to the dominance of the host Vietnam. The U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers also started with a 2-0 defeat. Goalkeeper Mehedi Hasan Shrawan can take credit for the low goal difference. He made some great saves. But his performance alone could not cover Bangladesh’s failures.

Bangladesh was under pressure from the start of the match at Viet Tri Stadium. Vietnam kept attacking one after another from the left flank. Bangladesh’s right-back Rimon Hossain seemed to be finding no way to stop it. In the 10th minute, Nguyen Phi Hoang’s shot from outside the box hit the post. However, the hosts took the lead in the 15th minute. Nguyen Dinh Bac got the ball due to a mistake by Bangladesh’s defense. Nguyen Ngoc Mai found the net with a corner shot from his pass.

After falling behind, Bangladesh assistant coach Hasan Al Mamun tried to devise a high-pressing strategy. Head coach Saiful Bari Titu was not in the dugout due to fever. He had to be admitted to the hospital.

In the 35th minute, Morsalin’s free kick was easily saved by Vietnam goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien. In the 41st minute, Al Amin’s shot from the left wing also missed the target. As a result, Vietnam went into the break ahead.

Cuba Mitchell was substituted at the beginning of the second half. The midfielder, who played for the youth team of English club Sunderland, was not very effective in the first half. Even when Bangladesh was trying to press, he played a lot of rosy. He could not even pass properly. Another expatriate, Zayan Ahmed, was excellent. This left-back from the United States gradually defeated the host footballers with his speed.

Vietnam continued to attack in the second half, outshining Zayan’s performance. Vietnam could have doubled their lead if Juan Bak’s volley had not gone wide of the post in the 59th minute. Bak tried again in the 62nd minute. Bangladesh goalkeeper Mehedi Hasan Shrawan blocked the shot from the corner. He also saved Le Victor’s volley in the 74th minute.

Vietnam came very close to scoring in the 77th minute. Shrawan blocked Nguyen Quoc Viet’s shot, but Bangladesh’s defense was in danger. Victor tried to score on the return pass. But his shot hit the bar.

Victor got the desired goal in the 83rd minute. Pham Li Duc headed the ball from the far post after a corner taken by Quoc Viet. Victor headed the ball into the net with the return. He doubled the lead. In the fourth minute of added time, Phi Hoang’s shot hit the bar, causing some disappointment among the hosts. But they left the field happy with the victory.

Bangladesh will face Yemen in the second match of Group ‘C’ on September 6. The champions of the 11 groups and the best four runners-up will qualify for the main round.
